WCMC - The last Dance at Utica


34 of us braved the chilly air on Saturday to bid farewell to the Y2K autox season and run, for the final time, on the go-kart track at Utica. It was a 5 lap enduro in which we got 3 stabs at laying down our best time. There were the obligatory spins off course by a few drivers to keep us entertained while we drank hot cocoa and ate hot soup provided by the club. This wraps up our autox season. The attendance this year has been fantastic. As far as I've heard, the Sept 10th event set a club record with 42 drivers.

Having so many drivers is great, but brings us some challenges. We appreciate your input as we look toward next year. We're also going to need a couple more volunteers - 3 Coordinators just aren't enough. We'll discuss the details at the January banquet after we hand out all the precious autox trophies. Since final class standings aren't being disclosed until the banquet, make sure you're in attendance - plus you can win some really cool prizes :-)

With the closing of our Utica venue, our club now has but ONE location for future autoxes - Zion-Benton High School. The Zion HS lot is "ok", but we desperately need to find more/better locations! PLEASE, we, the autox coordinators, plead with all of you to look at every parking lot you pass and scope it out as a potential autox location..
