Auto Cross # 3 was held on Saturday, June 28 at Bennett Kartway in Utica, IL. We had 19 drivers come out. That's a great turnout. Five of the drivers were new to Utica. One was new to autocrossing. All of our new drivers did very well too. They all showed marked improvement in their times from their initial runs.
Also new at Utica this year was the scream of superchargers. Both Sal Leonardi and Chuck Born had their hoods popped before the event to show off their new accessories.
The track is starting to show the wear and tear from those high HP camaros and mustangs that run on the weekends when we're not out there. The edges of the asphalt are getting ragged. The race organizers changed the rules slightly. Cones were put out marking the more ragged areas of the course and denoted as DNF (did not finish) cones, which means instant disqualification.
