Results for Auto Cross # 1

Mothers Day brought out a record turnout for WCMC's first autocross of 1998. We had 34 drivers tearing up the asphalt at Zion Benton High School.

The cars were especially interesting this weekend. Stephen Chu brought out his BEGI stage III turbo and just barely edged out Chuck Born's Sebring. Jeff Piantek borrowed his Mom's '99 and found what it could do. We also had a few automatic miata's turning laps. Chris Dunn came up with some good times in Judy's STO. Plenty of new faces were welcomed too. Andy, Stephen, Pamela, Jon, Lee, Jeff, and Hank - We hope you all come back!

The competition was especially fierce. How much is .01 second anyway? Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's about 6 inches if you cross the timing lights at 30 mph. That was the winning margin between the first and second fastest runs of the day, which were done on racing tires. Meanwhile, Rock again showed us just how fast a stock 1,6 liter miata can go on street tires. It can go really fast. Yellow miatas go fast too. Ask Autumn.
