Autocross # 4 - Fast Times at Case High

July was a busy month for autocross, with events at Utica on the 3rd and at Case High School on the 24th and 25th. The weather was in the 90's on all three days.

Trevor Sadler's BMW dominates class X, but on the 24th, the fastest times belonged to a pair of SAE spec racers from the University of Illinois. These look like go-karts, but have turbocharged 600cc motorcycle engines and sound like chain saws.

The course was a good one, with two five cone slaloms and a couple of nice turns. A major challenge was the Spickolee, a slow hairpin turn girdled with a wall of cones! The turnout was good too, with 27 entries. Thanks to the great cooperation of all the drivers, we made our changeovers from driving to work details quickly and were able to pack in 9 official runs for everyone!
