Event #2
6/2/7
Maywood Park, Melrose Park, IL
Bad News - WCMC officers house broken into.
We have bad news to announce to the WCMC AutoX attendies. The Sunday after the AutoX, the house containing the event entry fees was broken into and burglarized. Among the items stolen were the entry fees for the Saturday autox.
Our biggest concern at this point is that there were personal checks along with the cash and these can now be "washed" and cashed, resulting in further loss. We would like to warn anyone who paid using a check and advise you to contact your bank immediately. The only catch being the amount of the check may be less than the charge to cancel it. Sometimes they will cancel and reissue for free if it was stolen. If you are aware of other steps anyone needs to take, please let us know and we will post it here.
If you paid by check please let us know as well. We are trying to determine how much money was stolen so we can report it to the police and insurance. This all happened so quickly we did not have time to total the money, much less deposit it in the bank.
Another big ticket item stolen was a Toshiba Satellite 5208-s504 Notebook. It had a 2ghz Intel Pentium 4-M processor with a rather distintive touch pad. The touch pad was special because it was also a display. It could display a calculator, animations when not being used, applications to launch, and many other things. It was gun metal blue and had rather large speakers for a laptop. This item is probably not going to be recovered, but if enough people are alerted to it, it may be found. So please keep an eye out for us and we will post any news we hear as we collect it on this page.
Thank you,

Why Autocross??
..."I consider (autocross) to be, arguably, the best place to learn car control"...
T.C. Kline, a well-known driver and car builder with over 20 years of autocrossing and road racing (both club and pro) experience.
..."The skills you learn and practice here; smooth transitions, enhanced braking, and skid correction, will have an immediate impact on improving the safety and skill of your street driving. Solo II is an excellent way to teach car control to young drivers in a safe environment"...
Kate Hughes, author of Solo II Novice Handbook.
